Inner Mulberry

Wreck, Scenic, Drift, Snorkel/Basic Freediver

Depth 8m max

A D1 Phoenix unit, the smallest caisson used in the Mulberry Harbour. It is believed this was intended as an intermediate pier head pontoon to provide accommodation / shelter for the men working on the floating pier head. Exposed at Low Water, and visible from Pagham, we usually dive this on teh Ebb tide after High Water but before Slack in order to give a reasonable depth - it is technically a penetration dive with large swim-throughs - built of reinforced concrete, care should be taken for metal spikes especially in the ceiling; once inside there is no direct access to the surface. A Seasearch survey found 17 types of Anemone on the structure plus the usual local marine life. When finished on the wreck, a Drift West will provide the opportunity to see Rays and Cat-Sharks.

SMB deployment required when leaving the wreck.
