Waves, Tides and Currents

Our seas are rarely still, and the water motion can have a tremendous impact on your diving experience. The SSI Waves, Tides and Currents program provides you with the skills and knowledge to safely plan and conduct your dives. 

You will learn about different shore entry techniques when waves are present, and the impact of tides and currents on your dive planning. You then can plan your dive and dive your plan in confidence. Currents can provide an exhilarating experience, with a sensation of almost flying across the bottom, or it can be incredibly stressful and reduce your diving enjoyment. The difference is in the planning!

During your academic workshops, your Instructor will guide you through using Tide and Weather information to help you plan the best dive for you! You will then take part in two open water dives under the guidance of your Instructor from the shore at Selsey, West Sussex*.
