Many of the ocean's best dive sites have artificial reefs, some of these are wrecks of vessels that sank through the ages. There are many reasons you choose to dive wrecks. You many want the thrill of exploring a sunken treasure. It may be to appreciate the historical importance of these sites. Loving marine life, you may wish to admire the life that calls these artificial reefs home.
Whatever your reasons these structures are not natural and present hazards that you need to consider when conducting dives. The first in a series the SSI Wreck Diving program gives you the skills and knowledge required to safely scuba dive above and around these underwater treasures.
We are based at Selsey on the South Coast of England. The English Channel has long been one of the World’s busiest shipping lanes and there are many wreck sites waiting to be discovered. You will have the opportunity, under guidance of your Instructor, to explore during two open water dives under the open water element of your training*.
