Basic Freediver

The SSI Basic Freediver program is a more in-depth introduction to the sport. It provides you with the knowledge and skills to safely enjoy freediving with your buddy. Whether you are new to the sport, or if you already enjoy your snorkelling then this course will take it to the next level. 

The one day program is perfect for those wishing to learn the concepts and to be more relaxed in the water. Enjoy exploring, photography and adventure to depths of 5m on certification. 

Your training begins with home study, this is supported with academic and breathing workshops. Your SSI Freediving Instructor will expand on your reading and explore the theory you need for safety and comfort.

During the in-water sessions under the guidance of an Instructor you will develop and practice your skills. Luckily, our beach at Selsey Lifeboat Station offers a perfect spot for training*. Part of the Selsey Bill and Hounds Marine Conservation zone there is plenty of opportunity to explore the marine life. You have the option to complete the course in a pool during the winter and if you prefer.
