  • SWIM Private Lessons

Private Tuition gives you the freedom to work on your own goals. We keep group class sizes small but you might prefer to have that individual attention, for comfort, or so the focus is entirely on your goals. Why might Private lessons be good for you? It might be that you are just starting out and anxious about learning to SWIM and would prefer your Instructor is there just for you. You may already be a swimmer but want specific coaching on your technique or to learn/improve a new stroke. Initially you will discuss what you want to achieve and your Instructor will help you reach you goals. They will guide you on how many sessions you may need to achieve that goals. Learners will need an 18 week programme whilst coaching sessions are booked in six weeks blocks and each session is 30 minutes long. We are always very happy to discuss what you might need and how we can help so just get in touch. Who are private lessons for? Anyone who feels that a group class will not help them achieve their goals. Suitable for all ages we recommend discussing your needs before booking. Are the sessions in a block run concurrently? Yes, we will hold your lesson at the same time each week. I do not know how many lessons I might need? Give us a call on 01243 601000 or email info@mulberry-me.co.uk and we will be happy to talk it through with you.

What do they need to bring? They only need swimsuit, towel and clothes for after the experience. If they have their own equipment, they can bring them along, we will check fit and suitability Is there paperwork for this experience? • SWIM Intermediate

The SSI Intermediate levels are for children aged 4 to 15 who have achieved the final goals for Beginner III. They are already comfortable in water, confident with safety skills, breath control, and submersion skills. In the first of the two Intermediate levels they are working to 25m freestyle using bilateral breathing and flip turns. In Intermediate I we introduce new strokes at both a recreational and competitive level. Classes are based on similar ability rather than age as they work with their SWIM teacher to develop their technical swimming skills. Your SWIM teacher will work at their pace and remains in water – this allows for better correction of errors and pacing. Working alongside others of equal ability they encourage each other and learn from seeing the feedback and progress of the others. Private lessons are available if you prefer but we keep classes small, and skill focused. If you have a particular need or are working for a specific event, we are always happy to discuss. Where are lessons held? We use a private pool in Selsey, we have exclusive access in sessions. How long are the lessons? Each lesson is 40 minutes over 18 weeks, your teacher will be in the water with you for every minute. How many in a class? Swimmers are now of a higher ability level so we work with five/six to a teacher. Do I have to pay in one lump sum? We take a deposit when you book online and then the rest is paid before your lessons begin. We have an installment plan, just ask after paying your deposit for details. Do I need any equipment? You will need your swim wear and it can help to have goggles as they progress, your teacher will talk you through this. We will provide everything else you need.

  • Guided Snorkel Tour

Snorkelling offers you a fantastic chance to get close to shy marine residents. Maybe you have snorkelled on holiday but not considered doing it in the UK or are uncertain of what you can see on the South Coast of England. Whilst it is true, the water temperature is less than the Caribbean it is often 18 degrees plus in the summer months. With a thin wet suit, you can have hours of fun! What can you see? Plenty when you know where to look! Our water is green not blue, and the marine residents are often, but not always, in muted colours. This can make them harder to spot than the flashes of yellow and blue along colourful reefs. You guide will help you get your eye in so you can find and see blennies, gobies, prawns, crabs, pipefish, anemones, sponges, wrasse, bream, bass and more. You do not need previous experience; we ask that you are comfortable in the water and able to swim. They are designed to give you the confidence to snorkel safely whilst having fun. Led by SSI Snorkel Instructors you will be taken through every step. Starting with a safety briefing and introduction we then move into the water to explore shore sites including Selsey Lifeboat Station, East Beach, Aldwick, Swanage, Chesil and Durdle Door. Your Guide will take the time to make sure you are settled and practice buddy techniques in the shallows before you head off to explore. Great fun for the family, children are welcome. They must be at least 6 and able to swim 25 metres unaided. All those under 14 must be accompanied by an adult in the water. The cost is £50 per person which includes the use of all the equipment that you need, (mask, snorkel, fins, and wet suit). If you have your own equipment, we recommend that you use it. We encourage you to bring cameras so you can capture the memories and hope you do not mind if we do. If you want to explore further afield, we offer excursions and guided holidays to explore the amazing UK coastline, watch social media and the events section for more information. Private tours can be arranged on dates to suit you. If you would like to discuss, contact us directly on 01243 601000 to arrange.
