The SSI Freediving Level 1 program is your key to deeper open water environments. You learn the skills and knowledge to allow you to plan and safely conduct dives to depths of up to 20 metres with a buddy.
The course can be taken as a whole or split into two halves with the Pool Freediver course. The benefit, if you complete the first part in the colder months you can develop your skills at the club pool and open water sessions to make open water even more comfortable.
During the online academic and breathing workshop, your SSI Freediving Instructor will expand on your reading and explore the theory you need for safety and comfort. You will be given a little homework to help you maximise on your in-water sessions.
We then meet for your confined water/pool sessions under the guidance of an Instructor you will work on developing your skills and technique. Looking at static, dynamic, rescue and buddy skills you will lay a solid foundation for your future training.
Your open water training sessions will be held in the sea at Selsey, West Sussex. We use our boat, Mulberry Diver*, for one of your open water sessions. The boat will only include Freedivers and the boat skipper will keep an eye as we drift.
What is included?
Courses begin on the first Saturday of every month.
We want you to get the most from your learning experience, so we keep our classes small. If you prefer, we do offer a 1:1 option on all our training courses, just ask.
On certification you can join us on regularly scheduled boats* to explore the scenic wrecks and reefs. Have fun, meet the marine residents and take the adventure further.
*open water sessions are weather and conditions dependent.
** we have a range of packages and options for you consider.
